Sustainably Creative by Michael Nobbs

Little and Often

i must have more energy…

…because I’ve washed my teapot. It’s the little things that change when I have a more energy. I finally get round to cutting my nails, I remember to floss, I might hoover my floor, actually finish a book, or even cook something from scratch. Life is undoubtedly better with more energy. My teapot certainly agrees…

i’m still having cream…

…with just about everything at the moment.  Not the yummy, fatty, smooth dairy variety (or even the slightly less yummy vegan fare I used to eat), but rather one of a huge selection of over-the-counter non-edible emulsions I’ve collected to ease the flakey mess on my hands.  There’s the easy to use pump action version more »

i’ve been scratching…

…away, ever since coming off sertraline. I’m regularly lathering my hands in E45 and have taken to wearing a sock over one at night (and occasionally at other times, much to a few friends’ embarrassment) to try and stop myself scratching too much. …to have a set of prints for sale on the recently launched Thumbtack Press. I’m hoping some of the site’s hipness will rub off on me…

1.  Richard Bell’s new book, Rough Patch arrived in my postbox earlier on this week.  Keep an eye on The Drawing Club site for a full review very soon.  In the meantime you can check out what Danny Gregory has to say and order your own copy from Richard’s site.  Lovely. I can understand why more »

Everyday Matters is once again on my bedside table and I’ve dug out a pile of Dan Price’s Moonlight Chronicles. A long time ago I remember watching a more »

back to normal…

…in the studio. While I was sick, my beloved iMac was too. He (i’ve named him Jonathan after Jonathan Ive, Apple design guru) had to go back to Apple to have his logic board replaced. He’s back safe and sound, and I’m back with him, pottering in the studio between naps and a little light more »

finding my groove…

I was very touched by all the kind words I received after yesterday’s entry. Thank you. I’m doing okay. Better than okay really. I was sort of trying to say that yesterday, but I think I came across as still being in not a great place. I want to try and explain more clearly. Last more »

out of the groove…

I’m feeling completely out of my groove.  It’s not that my routine was in great shape before my health took its tumble last week either.  I’ve been feeling rather out of sorts for months now.  The difference with before I felt so shitty and now though, is that I’ve had a week of hardly sleeping more »

I'm Michael Nobbs, an artist, blogger and tea drinker (not necessarily in that order).

I'd like to show you that it is possible to stay creative even when energy is in short supply, and how working on small creative acts on a regular basis can build over time into a substantial body of work (and even a creative career).

I've written a book called Sustainable Creativity. You're welcome to pay whatever you would like for it.

Delve a little deeper by becoming a member. If you'd like to delve a little deeper into the material offered here on Sustainably Creative, find out about becoming a member.

My new book, Getting Your Important Work Done, is currently free for members to download.
