Less milk equals more tea pleasure (oddly enough)
I’m still snowed in and my milk is running low! I’ve decided to cut back on the number of cups of tea I drink (and am drinking my coffee black). Not the greatest of hardships of course, but, as you probably know I do love my cups of tea…
The one cup of tea that I’m truly loathed to do without (or to drink milkless) is the first cup of tea of the day. My morning ritual of coming downstairs and putting the kettle on, getting out my little yellow teapot and making that first pot of the day is, well, almost sacred.
Interestingly over the last few days, as I’ve watched the level of milk in my remaining milk bottle slowly go down, that first cup of tea of the day has been tasting better and better. I’m taking far more notice of it, savouring every sip. On days when milk is in good supply the cup, once poured could easily sit at my side and go cold as I check my email, or work on a drawing. Not at the moment. Nothing distracts me from my morning cuppa, and that feels just how things should be.
