my mother and I…
…have fallen into quite a comfortable morning routine. She wakes up early to take her first pills of the day. She can’t have anything containing calcium with them so a cup of tea is out for her. I make her a cup of hot water with honey in and myself a pot of tea. I get the tray ready with a biscuit tin, a mug that was always mine when I lived at home and the tea pot. I take Mum her honey and water, sit with her for a while and then go back to bed with my tray to start the day slowly. I do appreciate this bit of regular shape, the rest of the day varying a lot just now depending on Mum’s needs and my own energy.
N. lent me Brian Eno’s diary, A Year with Swollen Appendices. A little way through February I do wonder how people live such full lives. Today I’ve made breakfast and lunch for my mother, had a couple of hours in my studio, a nap and now I’m sitting in Aberystwyth Arts Centre drinking coffee and eating something while I type this. Apart from another meal later and some TV I don’t think there is going to be much else happening – and this I’d class as a busy day. Ho hum…
