A reminder to appreciate life’s small joys (and focus on what’s important)

My energy is very low again at the moment.

At times like this it’s all too easy to use our available energy just for the day to day mundanity of living. If we want to get our Important Work done AND enjoy life along the way, we need to make a conscious effort to do both.

Doing just a little work every day on whatever our current creative project is can give a real feeling of accomplishment. Making sure we take a little time to enjoy something that gives us pleasure makes life so much more worth living.

Carving out a little time

I’ve been taking advantage of the fact that I’ve been waking early to set my timer for twenty minutes each morning to take a small step with the book I’m working on at the moment. I then set my timer again and sit for another twenty minutes in the quiet of the morning and drink a pot of my current favourite tea (some days I even do a little drawing).

Whatever else I manage to do in the day, I feel good because I have at least started the day by making a little progress on my Important Work AND have spent sometime feeling connected to and appreciating something I enjoy in my life.

What small things could you do to move on what’s important to you AND appreciate life a little more?
